Shark Week

This past week was known as Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. Shark Week is an entire week of programs devoted to sharks including topics such as: how sharks live, migrating patterns, and shark attacks. There was one show about Black December in South Africa, where at least seven shark attacks took place in just one month, in  one area. Great White sharks that were 18 feet long were shown, and some shark experts actually swam with them. It must have been quite a scary experience! The divers needed to swim within a large cage, welded shut so that there was no chance of a shark attack while they were studying the animal. Shark Week was very entertaining this past week.

           Here is a photograph taken off the coast of South Africa, where a 10 foot juvenille Great White Shark was discovered.
